BOY!!!
everything looks good and he was super cooperative! the girls were really excited to come and learn they are having a brother. :) We even took them to a children's museum afterwards and at the end of the day asked them their favorite part of the day and bean1 said "finding out if the baby is a boy or a girl. " :)
It was weird that right in the beginning she said "well i know if you want to". With the girls we had to ask them and at the 1st big u/s they didn't cooperate.
when we called my mom, bean2 got on the phone and said "it's a girl...just kidding...it's a boy". My mom was so confused. :)
We got to see the 4 chambers of the heart which was really cool--looked like a black circle with crosshairs through it.
as for names....still no clue.

the 3 beans
Sorry I haven't been blogging much lately. Too tired and too busy! We went on a fabulous vacation the first week of Nov and the girls did awesome. what a great time!
Now we are back and all battling colds that keep trying to take hold.
Lots going on here.
First....Thursday is my big ultrasound!!! I'm so excited to see the baby and hopefully find out what we are having. Bean1 says Boy and Bean2 says Girl. I had been thinking girl... then for a few weeks boy and this week I'm leaning back to Boy. hopefully we'll know in like 36 hrs!
Bean3 decided to start moving a little a few weeks ago on the eve of our vacation (in between bean2 throwing up! which thankfully noone else caught and it went away before we had to get on the airplane) The past two days Bean3 has been moving a ton though! Not bad for almost 18 weeks!
Second. Last Thursday bean2 woke up in the morning and asked to wear underwear. She had 2 small accidents that day and then was accident free from Friday until last night. Today was another story...i can't even count the wet clothes that came home from daycare. :( she's still excited about it so hopefully she'll do better tomorrow. This is still at least 10 months earlier than bean1 did it. fingers crossed!!
Bean1 had her first school field trip today ON A SCHOOL BUS! she had a blast and was so excited!
Well off to sleep. Any predictions for us? I'm scared if it's a boy that we'll never pick a name! we have a few girl name prospects but no boy names.

gotta love needles...and names...
So my doctor (just regular doc) emailed me last week that she's been talking with my allergist and since I'm becoming more deficient in the vitamin that I'm allergic to, and desensitizing me to it via pills didn't work, they want to....drum roll please.... admit me to the hospital and give me a series of 10 injections (maybe only the first one will be in the hospital) to see if that will desensitize me to it.
doesn't that sound like fun?? The reason for the hospital, well in case i go into anaphylaxis. I'm so excited! ok. maybe not. So I wrote her back and said.. "ok but just for your information do you remember I'm 10 weeks pregnant. can we wait until april or does this need to be done now. ". and I haven't heard back. today my allergists office called to set up an appointment for next week to talk about this with my allergist (i guess the decided I can't wait until the end of october for my scheduled appointment with her). I mentioned to the person on the phone "does she know I'm pregnant?" so she's going to check with her and see what she wants to do. makes me want to scream.
anyways i'm doing ok otherwise. the morning sickness was gone last week and this week is back just slightly. fingers crossed. I go on friday for another ultrasound--11 weeks for the First Look test. hopefully all will go ok.
We still haven't told the girls yet. I wanted to make sure that things looked ok first. Not sure if we'll tell them this weekend after the u/s or wait until after my 13 week checkup. Right now I'm thinking we'll wait until the 13 week checkup and we get the results from the first look test as well.
I am getting pretty frustrated about names. There are NO boys names that I like (at least that i'd use...others i like for other people. :) ) well i actually liked one boys name (although DH didn't). However my SIL's sister just had a baby and named him that (Ethan). DH said , that doesn't matter we'll never see them. But it bothered me that if we did, and BIL/SIL had a baby...then that baby would have 2 cousin's with the same name. so back to the drawing board. I do have about 2-3 names for girls that I like.

stupid allergies...
the other news is that my allergies are REALLY bad. I've had two attacks (anaphylaxis) in the past week and a half. I've never gotten these while pregnant with the girls (i have them off and on otherwise).
We still aren't sure what is causing them and my OB is very concerned since they should be gone during pregnancy...not worse. thankfully the last one i stopped with 2 benedryl but the previous one i had to give myself steroids (the hospital is mainly useless near me for this) to stop it. and steroids in the first trimester aren't great (not horrible...but not ideal)
i just hope they go away soon. i don't see my allergist until next month...but there really isn't a ton she can do.
It's actually sad-- a kid on bean1's soccer team has a severe life threatening allergy to peanuts. my comment to DH (in my sad ironic mode) was "I'd love to have a life threatening allergy to something i actual knew what it was". because that's what's hardest--no one knows what's doing this to me. I do have a severe allergy to something else that's completely random....a vitamin!....but that doesn't seem to be involved this time. But I'm so happy that it's me going through this and not one of the beans.
sorry for my rambling. it just sucks. and all this started 2 days post partum with bean1

Doc appointment!
I had my appointment yesterday with the OB and all went well! I'm 9 weeks and the little bean was measuring exactly on with a heartbeat of 173 bpm. I go back in 2 weeks for another u/s.
Yeah! wow... this is really happening. :)

catch up. and lots of first!
Wow! I haven't written in awhile and it's been busy!
First.... Bean1 and I went on a super vacation a couple weeks ago. We went for 4 days to San Diego to visit my best friend from college. I was a little worried because I was 6 weeks PG the day we left. and with both girls...at 6 weeks PG is when my morning sickness kicked in ... BAD. But I did ok. It seems if I keep eating and dont let my stomach get hungry...i'm ok
So we had a blast. hit the san diego zoo, a beach with seals on it, went up to disneyland for a day! (she had a blast looking for princesses) and the children's museum. very fun! and even better... on our red eye home (yes i took a red eye with a 4 yr old...eek). she fell asleep BEFORE we took off and woke up AFTER we landed. :) i didn't sleep at all but that's another story. (so is getting sick at disney and barely making the bathroom)
then this past weekend has been really busy. Bean 1 & 2 had their first day of gymnastics this year on Saturday. For Bean1 she actually had to go into class on her own--no parents. It took her a bit and I had to go in with her for warm-ups...but SHE DID IT!! (she took this last year but the 3 yr old with parents class). Then Bean2 had hers... (with me). She was so excited because this is "real gymnastics" and she really wanted to do what bean1 was doing last year.
Then sunday was bean1's first soccer game. DH is one of the coaches. I *think* she had fun (at least for the snacktime.) She did better in the first half--the practice, then the 2nd--the game. lol. I actually had to go on the field with her for the game.
Today is the biggest though...today was her first day of preschool!!! She was very excited but nervous. Did not want me to leave but eventually let me. Her teacher is so nice. She had a great day they both said and was excited to tell me all about it. how did she get to be so big?? and kindergarden next year!!

i won!
on the bloggy giveaway carnival, I was a winner on Naomi's giveaway
I won a jar of PB Loco Peanut Butter. I picked Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough and the girls love it. Bean2 actually had a second sandwich the other day. I might have to try the curry another time. :)

sleepovers
Our upstairs has 3 bedrooms and a playroom over the garage. We are planning on doubling the girls up in one of the bedrooms before the baby comes (eeK!) eventually bean1 can take over the playroom maybe around 10 or 12?? but until then it seems like the playroom would be better than them having their own rooms (and it's huge)
so we've been letting them have a few "sleepovers" this week just seeing how they might do (i know i know...it's not like the real thing). Last night they were sleeping in Bean2's room and I could hear them talking on the monitor, trying not to go to sleep.
bean1: "Call mommy"
bean2: "mommy"
bean1: "no you have to call louder so she can hear you..."
bean2: "MOMMY"
bean1: "maybe you should pretend to cry so she'll come...like maaammmeeeeee wah wah"
ah.... gotta love 4 yr olds! already trying to get her sister in trouble and knowing what strings to pull. ;)

camping
we went camping last weekend with some friends and took the girls to StoryLand. They had a blast and did pretty good camping (well as long as you didn't ask Bean2 to sleep IN the tent. lol)
Bean2 just loved the train that went around the park and the girls really liked the circus. I was even amazed that Bean2 was able to keep using the potty the whole weekend--with only 1 wet diaper. even at the campgrounds! hopefully she can push herself all the way soon.
I think their favorite part was the smores! :) (or was that my favorite part???)
The weekend wore me out a bunch but otherwise I'm feeling pretty good so far (knock on wood).

i'm sleeping
so bean2 never gets out of bed in the morning on her own. Saturday at 7am she was screaming "daddy...daddy"
bean1 was currently in our room so we sent her into bean2's room to get her... here is what we heard
b1: "you can come into mommy and daddy's room"
b2: "i'm still sleeping"
b1: "if you are sleeping, why are you calling for daddy"
ahhh... so true

wii fit i love you
I go to see my nutritionist tomorrow. Not sure what she'll tell me about eating better--well she'll tell me to eat better of course....but I have to FOLLOW it. but I'm still excited to see her. Last I saw her in Dec or Jan she was telling me to exercise... and I am... but now my eating is crap.
The girls are good. We had a busy weekend and they did a ton. They crashed hard tonight. Bean2 is becoming so hard to get to sleep. Tonight was the worst....since DH wasn't around for bedtime she was crying for him....so much she was almost hyperventilating. It made me want to give her the pacifier back---but i held firm (i did lay on her floor for 20 min...shhh)
Still doing good with the wii. i'm averaging about 45 min a day with aerobics and my mom said she noticed a difference when we saw her yesterday! woohooo.
I did do a waist measurement and got that I lost about 2 inches!! but i'm not sure how scientific that was with the crappy measuring thing i had. so i got a new thing and took new measurements...so hopefully in a week or two I can check and see accurate results. I'm still thrilled though.
Bring on the veggies!!!

no tubes and plateaus
So bean2 does not need tubes!! he wants her off the preventative meds and since her ears look so good--just see how she does. fingers crossed!
I've been pretty bummed about wii fit. after off to a quick 7.5 lb deficit and pushing myself hard (45-60 min or aerobics and boxing every night) i had 4 successive days of gaining 1/2 lb a day. I'm hoping that it's just converting some fat to muscle since i'm feeling better and having more energy...but the weight gain was bothering me.
Saturday I decided to do a waist measurement so hopefully i'll see some increases there for my hard work. I've also scheduled a meeting with my nutritionist for next week. I haven't seen her since January since i've been slacking so much. I need to really start eating better. and also figure out what i'm allergic to and can eat.
Yesterday I had a very bad allergy day and didn't end up doing any wii fit (my first day 'off' in over 2 weeks) but i did go for a nice 20 min walk with my friend so i'm counting that. and this morning--i lost 1 lb!! yeah! here's hoping the plateau is gone!.

crappy day
Here is how my day started...
AF was due yesterday. Some cramping for the past few days but no sign of her. Took a test this morning... bfn (11 dpo)
Come down stairs to try wii fit because i think i'm about to hit a milestone weight thing and want to see if i did good.
Turn on the tv.... the tv dies. no picture just sound. it's gone bye-bye. :( (it is about 18 years old)
Drop the girls off a day care and come home to work from home. about 11am... AF decides to show up. crap crap crap. ugh! i'm so frustrated. Why did it only take 1 month each time with bean1 and bean2 and then it's already been 3 months this time. I'm getting so pessimistic about it working (i know 3 months isn't really that long...but i'm having a pity party)
And then at 2 we have to pick up bean2 to take her to the ENT doctor to see if she needs tubes.
Oh yeah...and did i mention that while i'm typing this the dentist just called to confirm my appointment for friday?
i'm going to cry. but first i'm going to go buy a tv---gotta do something productive.
(i did hook the wii fit up to our upstairs tv and it said i made my goal. :) thank goodness for the wii fit)
Oh yeah...and did i mention that while i'm typing this the dentist just called to confirm my appointment for friday?

scary
two nights ago bean 1 was running at a giant blow up ball (~4 ft), the ball rolled and she flipped over it and landed on her head!
she cried right away and got up (before we could tell her not to move) and she seemed ok. played all night with her friends and seemed fine.
yesterday woke up and couldn't look up or turn her head to the left without screaming. so I took her to the doctor who thought it was probably just sprained but wanted x-rays.
so i took for her x-rays. Now since there is a chance i could be PG right now (not getting my hopes up though ) they didn't want me to go in with her so we had to wait awhile until they had 2 technicians free--1 to stand with her.
they did the 3 xrays and for one she started crying so hard since she needed to look up. :( it was so sad. she did good though. they weren't sure if they got what they wanted so had us wait in the hall. Nope--need more x-rays. so she went back in and they tried laying down this time. She even started talking to the woman. :)
As we were leaving with her handful of stickers the technician whispered ("i'm not supposed to tell you this but everything looks fine" ) :) :)
so back to the doctor's who gave us the all clear again. thankfully it's prob just like a stiff neck/sprain of some sort and should get better within a week or 2.
poor girl. scary

wii fit
i also just got a wii fit today and it rocks! i'm liking it better than ddr. the aerobic is way cool! and it said just tonight in exercising for 45 min that i lost 1.5 lbs. :) now to keep it off!
bean updates
Bean1 has still had a 103 fever all day (whenever the motrin wears off). hopefully by tomorrow she'll be back to normal. the fever stayed with bean2 for 24 hrs.
And we decided to push the pacifier today with bean2. since she didn’t use her pacifier for 3 days with the virus and then last night we got home after she feel asleep in the car…we decided to push it today. Naptime she cried for about 5 min but then we kept explaining to her that it hurt her mouth (which she remembered) and told her that if she took a good pacifier-less nap, after nap I’d take her to the store to get an elephant or stuffed-animal (she really wanted an elephant). So she did. Then she picked out the cutest little elephant. And tonight she went to sleep just crying for it about 3 times. poor girl. But this seemed the easiest time to push. Hopefully it’s like it was with bean1 and just a few days of her asking for it.

sick kids
so bean2 was sick on Tuesday and Wednesday. high fever, vomiting twice (36 hrs apart---how weird is that) and bad sore throat. some weird virus. today she seemed mostly back to normal. at least starting to eat more... still says her throat is sore (which has made her not be able to take her pacifier....can we just get rid of it?? one good thing then in the yucky sickness) we were also surprised that her ears were clear since she's had 11 ear infections and is going to see the ENT in 1.5 weeks
well for the past 2 days bean 1 has been getting into more trouble and at her sister much more. we figured it was because of the attention that bean2 was getting and the changes at daycare this week (new kids and some of her other friends are gone). and then today with the excitement of July 4th (we went to a cool parade and then grandma/grandpa's). we left earlier because the girls were just at each other and neither napped so we headed out. Both feel asleep in the car at 7:30. 30 min ago...bean 1 wakes up ...with a 103.5 fever saying her ear hurts. oh no! so i guess that explains her behaviour. poor girl. dosed her up with meds and maybe off to the doc tomorrow (I LOVE that her doc has weekend and evening hours)
wishing a healthy household.
oh...and did i mention that i just got a + opk today. sigh...

catch up
It's been a busy few weeks. We just got back from a week vacation at the beach with all of dh's family. so 10 adults and 5 kids (5 and under) in one house. we all survived. :)
This last cycle was a bust too. I found out the day before we left for vacation when AF decided to show up 3 days early. grrr. Hopefully this month will be the trick. I'm nervous though because if this month works... my due date will be about 2 weeks before DD2's 3rd birthday. and if next month is it--it would be 2 weeks after her birthday. I'm less concerned about this month because last time I was induced 10 days early so that would put more time between then. But next month, if it was 10 days early...it would be only a handful of days after her birthday. Should we skip trying that month? what would you do? Does anyone have kids with close birthdays? or siblings?
My close friend at work is also starting her 5th ivf transfer this week. If we were both off at the same time...it would be really bad for work since we overlap so much. so i think this is fate's way of saying it will work for both of us. :) and then work would have to figure it out. If it only works for one....i SO hope it's her.
Miss K now has started saying her name all the time. She just loves it and laughs so hard when she says it. She's so cute. it was fun on vacation to see her with her 2 younger cousins. She is 26 months and C is 23 months and J is 20 months. It was amazing to see the big differences in just those 3 months (plus they are both boys). She played much more with the older girls. :)

baby me
So bean2 never calls herself by her name. it's always just 'me'. "say K*"... "me". i think only once have I ever heard her try to say K*. Today we were at a shower and my cousin was there with her 5 week old daughter with the same name. K* thought it was the neatest thing but kept calling her "Baby Me"

Outsmarted....
We've been talking a lot this week about fire. Saturday we went to a Child Safety Expo and they had this fabulous trailer that the kids went in and the firemen were there, in gear. Then they sent smoke into the trailer and had the smoke alarms go off and have the kids have to get out. It was really neat.
Then on Monday we drove by a few fire trucks. So bean1, aka M. , and i are talking about what to do if their is a fire and how you can not hide under any circumstances.
M: "Mom.... what if the whole house is on fire.... and the whole outside is on fire.... the only thing not on fire is your hiding space. It's ok to hide then right?"

success
Well the birthday party was a success even if dd1 was a little scared of Belle. The girl who was Belle did a FABULOUS job and the other little girls seemed to love having her there. we survived the party without too much trouble. :)

birthdays........
DD#1 has her 4th birthday party tomorrow and she's so excited. While her sister napped today we gave her our present-- a little boom box so she can listen to her own music (ie...the beauty and the beast soundtrack over and over and over and over)
Tomorrow is her party and guess the theme..... yup... princesses with a special guest star--Belle! she's so excited! 12 little girls--not sure how excited I am. ;)
I also ordered this Olivia dress for her and I'm excited because it's so cute

What TV Mom
Which TV Mom Are You?
My Result: Claire Huxtable
You are Claire Huxtable from The Cosby Show. You have high expectations for your children, just like you have high expectations for yourself. You've probably got your own life and your own career, but nothing is more fun than spending time with your family. You may be a professional woman, but you enjoy getting silly with the kids sometimes.
You want good kids, but you also want them to be successful, smart individuals who can speak their minds — as long as they do so respectfully. While you enjoy being the kind of mom that your kids can come to with a problem, you are not afraid to set them straight when they're acting badly. When it comes to discipline, you try treat your kids like adults, talking calmly and coolly. And that's ultimately why they're going to grow up with such unwavering respect for you — as both a mother and a successful person.

it's almost time to know...
well by tomorrow or thursday i should know if this cycle worked or not. i tested over the weekend (thinking af was due today and not wed/thurs) and got 2 neg and 1 who knows. I say who knows because it was originally - and then I looked 13-15 min later and it was slightly +. but it's one that says it's invalid after 10 min.
i ordered some more that are due to come tomorrow...so if af doesn't show in the morning, i'll test when ups comes. lol.
my cycles have been 25/26/25/26 so I guess this would be 25?? which would be tomorrow. Assuming it's negative. ... I'm planning on going out for a BIG margharita on Thursday. So trying to get obsessed about that. lol.

who am i?
of course i want to answer that "jean valjean"
ok i digress. can you digress when you haven't started out yet?
I thought i'd do a getting to know you post.
I'm leigh and have 2 daughters. an almost 4 yr old (who's already planning her FIFTH birthday. hahaha let's get through #4 first) and a 2 yr old (who has been 2 for a month and already tells you she's three.) guess they are super excited to grow up.
I live in new england with my dh of almost 8 years. i work as a computer programmer when i'm not being a mom! thankfully my boss is a mom too so completely understands!
here's some more info:
favorite tv: lost, 24, men in trees (hee hee..feel guilty about this one)
favorite book: hitchiker's guide to the galaxy
favorite movies(of the moment): princess bride, star wars, clue, gross point blank
craziest job i had: high school math teacher
favorite music: BNL, TMBG,
least fav music: currently the Beauty and the Beast soundtrack since i hear it 20 times a day!
well that's enough for now. :) got questions...just ask

ttc
ok....so we are ttc...and i forgot how crazy I get during all this. and this time is exceptionally crazy. it probably didn't help that we decided for sure to try in the middle of the cycle.
so then af isn't due until mid next week and I swear I've been nauseous for the past 4 days and a few other "symptoms" that I don't want to blog about. I've never had early symptoms though. so am i pg and just my body is extra wacky this time...or is it all in my head?
It didn't take long for me to get pg with either of my daughters. just 2 months and 1 month. i know that is unbelievable and I have many friends struggling with infertility and i feel for them so much. Don't hate me though because i definitely get my share of wackiness. I have some serious issues (including randomly going into anaphylaxis since i was PG with dd1.--and that is ALWAYS fun.) plus a weird blood disorder that happens JUST while I'm pregnant. yup. me the weirdo. so IF i am... it's back to the high risk ob I'll go. i go back and forth with thinking it will be super quick this time...to thinking...my lucky streak of getting pg quickly could be gone. hopefully the rest of my health issues stay in check. at least we've figured out what one of the major causes of my anaphyaxis is...vitamin b12. what fun??!?! so no prenatals for me.
but for now...it's just a week of stressing and wondering and feeling like I'm going to throw up. of course my friend is convinces that these early "signs" means I'm pg with twins. i SO could not handle that. i think she's mean. lol
not sure why I'm rambling so much or how long i can hold out testing. ahh...the joy of ttc.

And she did awesome. one teacher already said that she wants her in her class. :)
And bean2 is on her second day of underwear with only 1 small accident yesterday! yahooo! She just turned 2. :)

Logic v Gut
so part of the reason for one of my questions in the giveaway is because we are really contemplating #3. None of my close friends have 3 (or really are considering it) so that makes it seem wackier. lol but my one online friend who just had 3 last fall swears 2-3 is MUCH easier. I told her if we go for 3 and it's harder...one of them is moving in with her. lol
It seems all logic says 2 is the right number. our bedrooms work easier, we're overwhelmed sometimes with 2, the girls get along great, it'd be cheaper (we'd be done with 1/2 day care costs next year). but my gut says three.
the girls are 22 months apart and that was HARD. for at least a year. and it's not easy now...but easier. :) so we always said IF three we'd put almost 3 years between 2 and 3. however.... that time is quickly approaching. The first month we'd consider trying....would be NEXT MONTH! eek! I just don't know. I wouldn't want to wait more than a year more because I don't want too much space between then. 5,3 and a baby. Is that doable for us? (or 7,5, and a 2 yr old. lol)
and how will that change the girls' dynamic? will bean 2 because the "middle child"?? of course dh is 3 of 4. :) NO WAY ON FOUR THOUGH. ;)
Of course bean2 today switched from a crib to a mat at day care (she's been in a bed at home for 3 months now) and also used the potty for the first time there (and did it FOUR times!).
what wins? logic or the gut? and how do you know when????

Giveaway for Mom and Baby
I participated in the bloggy giveaway last time and won 3 wonderful things. I'm having too much fun again this time too so I thought I'd try giving something away.
So I'm going to do a giveaway for mom and baby. For baby is this Mozart Magic Cube and for mom.... a $10 starbucks gift card for coffee while listening to all the baby toys. :)
In full disclosure we got this toy as a gift for my daughter last year...but we already had one so it's sat in the closet. But it's a great toy and we love the one we have.
check out the other great giveaways.

To enter you have to answer one the following questions:
1) How do you "know" what is the right number of kids for your family?
2) what is the craziest vacation you've been on?
3) what's the nicest thing you've done for someone you didn't know?
Have fun! Happy Giveaways
check out the other great giveaways.
Don't Panic!
